Sustainability is a deeply-rooted feature of Davos Klosters, not least because, as a tourist destination, it relies on an intact natural environment in the long term. There is a focus on carbon-neutral offers and effective sustainability measures here. Since the end of October 2019, Davos Klosters has also participated in carbon neutrality and sustainability efforts within MyClimate’s “Cause We Care” project. Sustainability in practice ranges from choice of location to the supporting programme, right through to the local catering. Both the Davos Congress Centre and the Klosters Arena attach great importance to sustainability. The many measures include:
- A focus on local suppliers and seasonal produce in catering
- Use of glasses and crockery instead of plastic alternatives
- Environmentally friendly waste disposal and recycling
- Solar panels on the Congress Centre roof produce power that feeds into the public grid
- No air-conditioning, as outdoor air is used for cooling
