Healthy Zürich
Overview
Intro
What was Zurich like around 1400, who lived here - and what did it smell like? Who took care of the sick? What did healing mean? Who helped women give birth? This tour is about the great adventure of getting through life in times past.
This tour is a journey through time to healers, surgeons, midwives and physicians. In the Middle Ages, health and illness were defined quite differently. On the way to the sites of health care, the tour also addresses questions such as: Who were the first working women in the city of Zurich? And why did Zurich's most famous city doctor write a book about animals? Hildegard Keller tells stories of people who helped in childbirth and accompanied in dying.
