What’s it like to write with a quill and ink? What was ink previously made from? And what does parchment smell like? A visit to Einsiedeln Scriptorium is sure to answer questions like these and many more.
The “Scriptorium” consists of two parts. The first of these is the museum, which conveys interesting facts on the topics of writing and book production, enriched by various exhibits, some of them hands-on.
The second part is the workshop, where visitors can gain an insight into how historical texts were written – with quill pens and carbon ink, and even using real parchment.
