When in Thun, a stroll through the Old Town is a must. The Obere Hauptgasse is the heart of the old town. With its elevated sidewalks, special house facades, arcades and terraces, it is a popular subject for photos. Cafés and stores line the street. A stop at Mühleplatz is also worthwhile. Here you can enjoy the ambience on the banks of the Aare and stroll on to Thun's wooden bridges.
Experience a piece of Thun's history on the Rathausplatz. This is the historic center of the town and where political life takes place. The town hall is equally impressive with its windows and arches. The weekly market also takes place on the Rathausplatz every Saturday.
From the town hall square, you have a good view of Thun Castle. It's worth the climb: Thun Castle, the town's landmark, is definitely worth a visit.
