City, agriculture and energy points
Overview
Intro
Simple, authentic agriexperiences for guests who, accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, wish to discover and visit farms, wineries and dairies, where they can learn about cultivation, wine-making and cheese-making techniques and then taste the delicious results.
The morning will begin with a guided walk in the bustling city of Locarno, before we immerse ourselves in the agricultural part of the region. After a ride on the “Foliage Train” (Vigezzina-Centovalli railway) we will arrive in Intragna where we will visit the village with the highest bell tower in Ticino. We will then get back on the little train and travel to Cavigliano. Following a lovely walk through the chestnut forest, we will reach Agarta farm. Pascal, the farm’s owner, adopts a philosophy of promoting his farming business by working for maximum momentum while trying to have the utmost respect for the environment. We will discover the orchard, the vineyard and the animals, hear interesting stories from farmhands and visit the farm’s energy point. Lastly, we will have the opportunity to taste some local produce, with a good plate of polenta, cold meats and cheese, all washed down with organic house wine, before returning to Locarno. A day dedicated to the urban areas and agriculture in the region.
