Ruined monastery – former Cluniac priory
Overview
In the Middle Ages, one of the most important monastery buildings in Switzerland and an important stopping place on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. After the Reformation, the monastery, already partly in ruins, was finally closed. It was used only as a source of stone, and sometimes as a barn. Today, the magnificent ruins are used for cultural events, and walkers on the way to Santiago like to visit it as a source of strength and an impressive sight.
