Llama trek on Monte Comino
Overview
Intro
A unique llama trekking experience on Monte Comino in the Centovalli Valley.
On Monte Comino, there are approx. 25 hectares of meadows and pastures that are part of the Federal Inventory of Dry Grasslands and Pastures of National Relevance. In this context, the Monte Comino area is subject to the Ordinance for the Protection of Dry Grasslands and Pastures of National Relevance (Ordinance on Dry Grasslands, OPPS). This aims to protect and improve dry grasslands through sustainable agriculture and forestry. We try to ensure continuity of care for these exceptional habitats through our farming activities. We do this by mowing the meadows and gathering hay to feed our herd of 20 llamas. Llama treks allows hikers, locals and other visitors to explore these microcosms in an environmentally sensitive way. You can get to know and appreciate the animals and create precious memories of the valley, coupled with the desire to continue to preserve these areas.
All hikes start from our farm on Monte Comino in the Centovalli above the village of Verdasio. To ensure maximum safety at all times during the excursion, the treks are always accompanied.
If desired, participants can prepare and brush the llamas for trekking. The available trekking/hiking trails range in difficulty from medium to difficult and require good footwear and physical fitness. On request, additional activities can be added to the trek to enrich the excursion and make it more entertaining (e.g. yoga etc.)
We also run an agritourism restaurant, with seasonal, regional and home-grown produce. Our particular specialities are fermented homemade teas and lots of dried fruits and vegetables (prepared with our solar dehydrator).General information
