Pleujouse Castle
Overview
Intro
The enchanting Château de Pleujouse in the Jura could also have served as a location for filming the “Game of Thrones” TV series. Far from the madding crowd, you can dine in style in the centuries-old castle.
Built around 1100, the castle of the Lords of Pleujouse stands on a rocky mountain ledge above the village of the same name and dominates the area. The mighty residence dates back to the 15th century. It fell victim to a fire in 1980 but has since been restored.
The castle managers Catherine and Gérard Praud have been at work with untiring enthusiasm for many years. The chef spoils his guests with dishes made from organic regional produce. In summer, you can sit in the shadow of the watchtower and enjoy the food just like in the olden days.
