Thurnheer Coopery
Overview
Intro
Centuries-old craftsmanship can be seen in the coopery. The cooper Martin Thurnheer demonstrates how an oak wood barrel is made by hand and gives information about Swiss wooden crafts.
Since 1854, warehouse barrels, barriques, fermentation stands, wooden bathtubs and other wooden containers have been produced at the coopery Thurnheer in Berneck. The small family business is operated by the fith generation now. Swiss vintners use the barrels and barriques to enrich their wine with a special wood aroma.
The tour of the coopery lasts about 90 minutes and can be combined with a visit to a wine cellar in Berneck.
