Glacier Experience Trail
Overview
Intro
Explore the glacial landscape up close on the Glacier Experience Trail on the Diavolezza in Pontresina.
This two-hour trail takes you on a hike that passes through five different discovery points, each of which covers an aspect of how the Pers Glacier and the Morteratsch Glacier have been changing. There is a leaflet that explains the changes that are already visible in this fragile Alpine region. You can pick the leaflet up at the Diavolezza valley station or at the start of the trail to the left of the panoramic platform. The walk supplements the theoretical knowledge you gain from the VR Glacier Experience visitor centre at the Diavolezza valley station.
Guided themed tours Description Pontresina mountaineering school offers guided tours on the Glacier Experience Trail. During the tour, the ranger from Pontresina mountaineering school will discuss glaciers and rock glaciers, climate change, flora and fauna, and the Alpine history of the Bernina region. You can sign up for a guided tour via Pontresina mountaineering school. Safety information Description White-red-white marked mountain hiking trail, which partly opens up impassable terrain and is mainly steep, narrow and partly exposed. Particularly difficult passages are secured with ropes or chains. Users must be sure-footed and in good physical condition, and must know the dangers in the mountains (falling rocks, danger of slipping and falling, weather conditions).General information
