Intro

The secrets of time are revealed in a magical place: the 18th-century Château des Monts. An extensive collection covers 500 years of watchmaking history. Unique and surprising exhibits such as automata, mechanical songbirds and pendulum clocks will enchant all visitors.

Château des Monts, a stately home and symbol of the city of Le Locle, houses the watch museum. Visitors are greeted by a fascinating world of magnificent pendulum clocks and numerous masterpieces of the watchmaker’s art.

The museum’s greatest treasure is a mirror with a songbird made by the Rochat brothers at the beginning of the 19th century. Legend has it that this was a gift from Napoleon to an Ottoman princess. But it also houses one of the most beautiful watch cases that you could ever imagine.

The museum takes visitors on a journey that spans many centuries: it looks back to earlier civilisations as well as taking a sneak preview of things to come.
And the ticking of the clocks will delights guests as they stroll through the exhibition rooms.
