Sr. Program Manager - Event Operations at prestige | global meeting source, 2023 Lynn Sullivan

"We had the pleasure of visiting Switzerland for both a week for business followed by a week of pleasure and what an amazing time we had. Geneva is a great city to hold a corporate meeting as there is plenty to do after hours as far as sight-seeing goes, and such a variety of restaurants in the area. We held a fantastic “spouse program” which included a United Nations Tour, luncheon cruise on Lake Geneva and Patek Philippe watch tour.

Following the Geneva program, we were able to tour all over Switzerland via the Swiss Travel Pass which was fantastic and definitely worth the money. Very easy to use and had the ability to come and go as we pleased via train and bus and boat along with a large amount of admissions to local museums.

Our adventures consisted of a day trip to Montreux, which is a beautiful city tucked between the mountains and Lake Leman. It had a beautiful boardwalk along the lake, fantastic audio tour of the Chateau de Chillon, Vevey funicular ride with a fantastic overlook view of the city and the lake. A “must see” on the list of things to do in this city.

Our next adventure was to the Gruyere’. We stayed right in the heart of this village with cobblestone walkways and adorable restaurants/shops along the path with the Château de Gruyere Castle at the end of the path. Right in the middle of the village is the HR Giger Museum and the Bone Bar. Very interesting museum to say the least, and of course, we had to try the cheese fondue. We then took a bus to Broc to visit the Cailler Chocolate Factory Tour and that had fantastic samples as well as a great audio tour. In addition, we toured the la Maison du Greyere cheese factory which I’d highly recommend as well.

We continued our adventures to the city of Bern and then on to Interlaken/Grindelwald for a tour of the “Top of Europe” via the Jungfrau Railway. The train took you to the very top of the mountain and on a clear day, you could see for miles of all the beautiful snow-capped mountains! This was the highlight of our trip, although we didn’t have a clear day and were still fascinated by it.

From there, we went to Luzern and did a train-ride throughout the city to hear the history and viewed the beautiful architecture and enjoyed shopping and dining along the river. Our last stop was in Zurich at the Lindt Chocolate factory which was a very classy experience for guests and the amount of “samples” given out was amazing! A great ending to our trip to Switzerland.

Incredibly country, landscape and so much to do and see in Switzerland and the surrounding areas. We felt that we really got to see and experience so much in a short amount of time and hopping on the train was just a fantastic experience."

"In our nearly 30 years of doing Incentive Travel, I must say that our recent week-long trip to Switzerland tops them all! It started 4 years ago at IMEX in Las Vegas when we were looking for a new and exciting destination to take one of our top clients. It was there that we met Caroline Pidroni who works for the Switzerland Convention & Incentive Bureau and is based out of New York. She spent over an hour with us educating us (map included) on all the different regions and cities that we might want to consider. She also introduced us to a number of hotels that would be a good fit for our group. She basically helped us plan the entire trip!

After many postponements due to Covid, we finally were able to take our trip the first week of May 2022. All I can say is that it lived up to and exceeded ALL of our expectations. Flying into Zurich was the perfect place to begin our trip. We stayed 3 nights at the beautiful Bürgenstock Hotels & Resorts. The weather was outstanding. We had a fantastic welcome dinner, many amazing off-site tours and off-site dinners. We worked with Dino from Welcome Swiss who was the perfect partner to assist us with all of the transportation, tours, meals and hospitality desk needs.

After 3 nights we all headed south to Lausanne and the incredible Beau Rivage Palace hotel. This iconic hotel is one of the best if not THE best hotel I have ever stayed in. From the service, elegant and well-appointed guest rooms and suites to the amazing food and beverage offerings, this was Five Star all the way. You could not have a better location to town and as well as an amazing view of the Lake.

The beauty of Switzerland, the friendliness of the Swiss people, and the incredible tour and food options made this trip SO memorable. I can’t begin to thank Caroline and all the people along the way that added to our experience! I told Caroline on my return that I now need to get more groups over there. THANK YOU!!!"

Meeting Event Manager, Maritz, Interlaken incentive (Oct. 2018) Torrey Adams

Out of the three destinations in this program, the Switzerland portion was by far the easiest to work on. Switzerland as a destination really cannot be beat! Not only because of the pristine beauty but the friendly people, the amazing cuisine consisting of both favorites: cheese AND chocolate… but because Switzerland has something for EVERYONE!  Each little inviting town offers its own unique experience and wide range of activity.

Michelin North America, Product Launch (August and October 2017) Ryan, Experiences Manager:

"We had an amazing experience with our event in Switzerland. The Ovation team (Rutger and Renato) were impeccable and so helpful in every way. They really worked tirelessly to ensure our event was successful. It goes without saying that the country of Switzerland has a majestic beauty, matched by no other place in the world. Our guests were blown away by their experience, and we hope to do more in the future! Thanks, Ryan"

BCD Meetings & Events, Netherlands (June 2017) Marion de Groot:

“I definitely fell in love with Switzerland. Switzerland is a unique destination with lots of potential for incentives, congresses, events and meetings. It is a destination where you have the chance to see the most awesome sceneries and do some very cool activities, but in the meantime it can be combined with beautiful cities, which are very safe and cosy. And even if it is a little bit more expensive I think it is worth every penny."

PLANit inc. USA, Nadine Murray, Principal:

“Swiss precision with a good dose of first class hospitality is how I would describe our experience working with the Swiss Convention Bureau in New York. We were tasked with putting together a last minute site visit to Switzerland two weeks before the Christmas Holiday Season in 2015, with the site scheduled to commence on January 3rd. The site would include visits to 4 Swiss cites, 7 hotels and 4 off site venues. A daunting schedule to plan short term for even the most seasoned Meeting Planner. Our partnership with the bureau proved invaluable. They were our life line every step of the way. They even made themselves available during times when their office was closed for the holiday. Now that is what I call great service ! They advised us on an optimum site logistics schedule, put us in contact with local swiss bureau reps in each city, and provided us with 1st class swiss passes for our travels through-out Switzerland. The overall site experience was fabulous, due to their involvement. We ended up booking the program in Geneva. The event took place this past October, 2015 to rave reviews. We are looking forward to partnering with the Swiss CVB again on future programs."

Enigma Marketing & Travel Solutions, USA Jill Davis, Senior Project Manager:

"We think Switzerland was exceptional! We heard fantastic comments from our attendees and expectations were exceeded by the beauty of Montreux and surrounding areas. We had an outstanding week of weather, it was unseasonably warm for the month of April which allowed our outdoor activities to be even more enjoyable than we could have planned.

Montreux was the perfect fit for a first trip to Europe. The town is quaint and charming and allows those with little to no European travel experience to feel comfortable right away. The walkable streets and friendly shop owners invited exploration. With a nice variety of restaurants and the ability to make reservations, most of our attendees were able to enjoy the fantastic regional cuisine available. The Fairmont Le Montreux Palace is a prime location for an incentive trip. The historical and beautiful architecture plus the attention to detail make this hotel an attraction in itself. The rooms are luxurious and quite large by European standards. Not only are the rooms well maintained, but they offer some very high quality amenities to ensure comfort. The staff at the hotel are warm and do their best to help each guest enjoy their stay. The proximity of Montreux to Geneva makes it convenient for international flights. The geographical location allows visitors to enjoy lake experiences as well as excellent day trips to the Alps for breathtaking, bucket list views. It is our plan to quickly confirm another customer to bring to Switzerland to enjoy all the offerings and take away fantastic memories."

CAOMS, Canada Ellyn Holzman, CAOMS Secretariat:

"The Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CAOMS) had a very successful meeting recently in Grindelwald, Switzerland. The vendors that we used including the Hotel Belvedere, Jungfrau Railways and Bucher Travel to assist us in our first European meeting were terrific. The transportation, accommodation, education and social program that we organized were well received and provided our members with fond memories of Switzerland."
